Outside of my full-time job, I also design custom Web sites on a freelance basis. I apply a practical, common-sense method of building sites that are both visually appealing and easy to use.

Approach to Web Design

I’m often frustrated by Web sites that are hopelessly confusing or unnecessarily complex, especially ones that force me to squint at microscopic text or wait for a pretentious, animated home page to finish loading. (“Skip intro,” indeed.) Unfortunately, many Web developers and graphic designers insist on building sites with gaudy visual effects, even though most of their users simply aren’t impressed by such nonsense.

For that reason, I focus on clean, attractive designs that are intuitive for people to use and efficient to maintain over time. Above all, simplicity is the name of the game.

A fine restaurant and bar in South Philadelphia. The site primarily offers a wide range of delicious menu selections and an extensive beer list, and its design makes use of a subtle color scheme and elegant typography.
