About

Clear, honest communication is very important to me. I’m rarely impressed by jargon and buzzwords, and I would be embarrassed to claim that I “leverage synergies” or “deliver value-added solutions” for a living.

So, don’t worry. I promise to describe my career in plain English.

PROFESSIONAL BIO

Comcast Interactive Media (CIM) logo

I currently work at Comcast Interactive Media in Philadelphia. We apply an iterative, business-focused approach called agile software development in CIM’s Engineering division. In my role as ScrumMaster, I facilitate the day-to-day work among a large team of developers who build and maintain Comcast’s key Web sites, Xfinity and Xfinity TV.

In January 2011, I was honored to receive a quarterly Communicator Award as part of Comcast’s Xfinity Guiding Principles recognition program, and I became a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) through Scrum Alliance, Inc., in May 2011.

I previously worked in a variety of technical roles in the R&D IT division at GlaxoSmithKline in King of Prussia, Pa. During my seven years at GSK, I first worked as a Web developer and project manager on a small projects team, then managed the technical work of offshore developers, and ultimately led large-scale intranet and vendor-facing projects for strategic R&D clients.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a front-end developer at a pair of interactive agencies, Medical Broadcasting Company (now Digitas Health) and Refinery, Inc. (now G2 Worldwide), where I built public Web sites and intranets for large pharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Outside of Web development, I’ve also built data warehousing applications and reporting systems at The Vanguard Group and General Electric.

I’m a proud alumnus of Penn State University, where I earned a B.S. degree in Management Science and Information Systems and completed an honors curriculum and thesis through the University Scholars Program (now the Schreyer Honors College).

I live with my fiancée, Joan, in Chesterbrook, Pa., about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
